Canadian Coalition for Affordable Learning
The Canadian Coalition for Affordable Learning is dedicated to making postsecondary education more accessible and affordable for Canadian students by exploring inter-provincial strategies. The focus is on four strands of work: The adoption and promotion of Open Educational Resources (OER); improving alternative and flexible delivery modalities, such as online and hybrid courses and programs; enhancing access to new learning paths such as through micro-credentials; and enhancing the digital fluency of educators to more effectively leverage digital teaching & learning environments.

With the recent decrease in international learners studying in Canada and with threats of trade wars and tariffs looming, the Canadian Coalition for Affordable Learning is presenting an exclusive workshop about accessible and affordable learning in postsecondary education.
On March 4 at 2pm EST, join Alexandra Marcaccio, Amanda Coolidge, Carley McDougall, Clint Lalonde and Robert Luke to learn about the best practices in digital education, open education, and more. Together, we’ll discuss how we can provide learners with better access to postsecondary education during a time of economic uncertainty.
The workshop includes a panel discussion, a showcase of successful initiatives across Canada, and a facilitated group discussion. Discover how we can work together to create a more equitable and affordable educational landscape for students across Canada.

Amanda Coolidge
Executive Director, BCcampus
Amanda Coolidge is the Executive Director at BCcampus, an organization focused on enhancing post-secondary education in British Columbia. She has a strong background in open education practices and instructional design, which she leverages to improve educational access and quality across the province.
Clint Lalonde
Director, Open Education, BCcampus
Clint Lalonde has worked in the British Columbia post-secondary system for 25 years and is currently the Director of Open Education for BCcampus, a government-funded non-profit organization that provides teaching, learning, educational technology, and open education support to the British Columbia post-secondary system.
Robert Luke
CEO, eCampusOntario
Robert Luke, PhD, is the Chief Executive Officer of eCampusOntario, which provides leadership to Ontario’s universities and colleges promoting innovation and adoption of digital learning. eCampusOntario’s mission is to inform and shape Ontario’s online learning system redesign in consultation with sector stakeholders by funding and conducting research and pilot projects that promote and support digital fluency and educational system evolution for all.
Alexandra Marcaccio
AtlanticOER Lead, Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries / Conseil des bibliothèques postsecondaires de l’Atlantique (CAAL-CBPA)
Alexandra Marcaccio is the AtlanticOER Lead for the Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries (CAAL-CBPA). She oversees the provincially-funded AtlanticOER Service, which provides support to educators and students in the Atlantic region with the creation, adoption, and adaptation of Open Educational Resources. She also advocates for sustainable, long-term funding for open education services. As a member of the CARL Open Education Working Group, she co-authored the OER Data Toolkit, a resource that provides guidance on data collection, analysis, and sharing for open education advocacy. She has previously presented her work on open pedagogy projects, using curriculum mapping for strategic OER service development, and on critical reflections on the current state of the Open Access movement.
Carley McDougall
Executive Director, Campus Manitoba
Carley McDougall is the Executive Director of Campus Manitoba, a consortium dedicated to access, student mobility, open education, and digital learning across Manitoba’s post-secondary institutions. She uses her expertise in open education and communications to drive digital transformation, strengthen institutional partnerships, and improve student outcomes.
